The Village of Mechanicsburg is responsible for snow and ice control on municipal streets and the state routes within the city limits.
The Village does not remove snow and ice from private streets, parking lots or driveways. The Village is not responsible for snow and ice control on sidewalks except those immediately abutting or within municipal facilities or properties. Main roads will take priority. (Main Street, Sandusky Street and High Street). Residential streets will then be plowed and treated. Alleys will be addressed last. Main Street and Sandusky are emergency snow routes and parking is not allowed when there is two or more inches of snow fall. We will attempt to have owners remove cars to off street parking until the snowplow clears the curb. If the cars are not removed, they will be ticketed. Do not place snow removed from parking lots, driveways. or sidewalks onto the street.

It's been very difficult to pick up my grand daughters after school because most of High Street is still covered in snow. Parents are forced to park on the right side of the road only allowing for one lane of traffic. Not only is the street not plowed but some children are also forced to walk in the street because sidewalks are not cleared. This is very concerning and poses a threat of harm to our children getting to and from school. I thought there was an ordinance in place that requires a homeowner to clear their sidewalk or be fined?
