The Village is still under a Mandatory Water Conservation Order. We are still operating with a smaller storage tank. We are looking at Friday, July 13th as the first date that the Tower will resume full service to the Village.
Please do not water your lawn, fill your pool, or any unnecessary water usage until we lift the order. Please be careful with fires over the 4th of July weekend. Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience. - Village Utility Department and Mechanicsburg Fire and EMS The painting is almost complete on the tower. Both the inside and outside are freshly painted. The paint must cure for 7-10 days, go through an inspection, and then we can begin to fill the tower. When the tower is filled, we will send samples to the lab. Once those samples come back safe, we will be able to lift the Mandatory Water Conservation Order. While it took a little longer than expected we were able to do both the inside and outside all at once saving money and another down time for the tower next year!
We want to thank you for your patience and cooperation in the maintenance of our asset. Maintenance on the water tower began this morning. Please remember that we are under Mandatory Water Conservation until completed. We are hoping it is only a couple of weeks weather permitting. We will keep you updated as the work progresses! Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The Village of Mechanicsburg will be conducting regular preventative maintenance on our water tower beginning June 1, 2020. This maintenance is to preserve the exterior coating of the tower and cleaning and coating the inside of the tank. It will require the Village to drain the tower while the maintenance is being done. This is to prevent condensation on the exterior, cleaning and painting the interior, and will be dependent on weather and temperature variances. The actual work under ideal conditions would require about 5-7 days to complete for both the inside and outside. However we are scheduling up to 4-5 weeks to complete the work. We will bring in a temporary tank for water storage.
Due to the size of the temporary tank we are requiring Mandatory Water Conservation while the main storage tank is offline. The following water uses are considered nonessential and are prohibited during this emergency. Prohibited Water Uses:
